After nearly two decades, The BMW 8 Series is Making It's Come Back!

BMW has officially unveiled the concept of the revived 8 series that will now become our new flagship coupe.

BMW revealed the car’s prototype, the Concept 8 Series, this weekend at Italy’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este on Lake Como as a precursor to the 8 Series production model expected next year. The first-generation 8 Series was discontinued in 1999 after a 10-year run as the brand’s flagship coupe. The new model will replace BMW’s outgoing 6 Series coupe.

The concept appears sleeker and sportier than the 6-series coupe it replaces, with more muscular surfaces but with basic proportions that resemble the 850i launched in 1989.

The production version of the 8-series coupe will go on sale next year in Europe and the U.S. A convertible version is expected in 2019. The cars will compete directly with the Mercedes-Benz S-class coupe and cabrio.
